Mental Health & Healthcare

Intercultural Network, LLC will provide a comprehensive training plan for your setting. Healthcare and mental health have similar but different needs than corporations, which is why we typically begin with an assessment, the Intercultural Development Inventory® (IDI)®.

This assessment will help us identify your group’s strengths in intercultural communication and engagement as well as growth opportunities. Healthcare and Mental Health workers already possess some strategies to engage with the people they serve but most were not taught specific skills to bridge cultural differences. Your plan may include workshops in some of the topics below, implemented over time to allow for maximum learning.

Intercultural Development Inventory® (IDI®)

The IDI® is a statistically sound, cross-culturally valid assessment that measures an individual or group’s specific level of cultural competence. As part of the assessment process, individuals are asked to complete a 50-item, online assessment. Although the assessment is completed individually, the results can be disseminated both as a group or individual report.

Unconscious Bias Training

By definition, implicit or unconscious bias is challenging to recognize, and even when we do, most individuals are left without any idea of what to do about it other than saying “sorry.” This workshop provides the understanding, knowledge and skill to understand, recognize and respond to various biases.

Cultural Responsiveness

This 3-hour workshop differentiates between cultural competency and responsiveness. It introduces participants to cross-cultural engagement skills in order to improve work in clinical and supervisory relationships.
